Welcome to the Senior Spotlight! Here, we delve into the high school journey of our seniors, uncovering unique insights about their experiences.

Makaylee Barfield

Makaylee Barfield is a senior who is graduating at the end of the semester. In her interview, she reflected on her time at McLouth High School. Makaylee is most proud of the 830 hours of cosmetology school she has completed. Her favorite subject is history because she says it is easy. Her biggest challenge in High School was turning in assignments. A challenge she was eventually able to overcome. After overcoming this challenge, she learned not to procrastinate and now advises freshmen to do the same. She played Volleyball for a couple of years and enjoyed the chemistry of her team. Her biggest role model is her dad. After High School, Makaylee plans on finishing cosmetology school, getting licensed, and working for Beauty Brands as a nail technician. In five years, she hopes to open her own salon.

Trenton Dale

In Trenton Dale’s interview, his most memorable moment was attending this year’s FFA National Convention along with eleven other McLouth members.  He plans on attending Kansas Wesleyan University on a Baseball scholarship. He is undecided on his major. He plans on working in Agribusiness, which he attributes to his ag teachers, Ms. Umphenour and Ms. Hinrichsen. He has played baseball all his life and he plans to continue playing in the future. His biggest inspiration is his mom. He said, “My mom has been there for me, in and out, bad and the good. She’s always there for me.” His biggest challenge was attempting to become an FFA officer. He enjoyed the challenge even though he was unsuccessful. and He believes he has learned a lot and has gained skills because of it.  His favorite subject was, “history, one hundred percent”. He is good with dates and loves learning history. To freshmen, he says, “Have fun and don’t take anything for granted. You are going to miss this when you graduate.” Last year, he “ran Operation Warm Coat Winter with the elementary and raised over $900 for kids in need who need coats in the wintertime and we used that money to provide many many coats for our elementary here at McLouth.” In five years, he wants a successful job and he wants to travel instead of settling down.
